Château Saint Pierre has been handed down from father to son for more than three generations and the members of the Martin family have been trained in various winegrowing professions, such as ploughmen, cellar masters, managers, and coopers.
The Château Saint-Pierre estate, Quatrième Grand Cru Classé created in the 17th century, was the result of several successions that had fragmented and dispersed. Through luck and tenacity, in 1982 Henri Martin bought and restored the Château to its former 1855 glory when it was awarded the renowned Grand Cru Classé classification.
Since then, thanks to investment from the owners, Saint-Pierre has been recognised by all as a perfect representation of the Grands Crus Classés within the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation.
It was natural that Château Saint-Pierre wished to support La Cité du Vin project. Bordeaux, the world’s wine capital, was awaiting the perfect unique venue to welcome the vast amount of tourists who visit the city. La Cité du Vin is destined to become one of the symbols of Bordeaux’s universality.
