Les Vignerons Coopérateurs d'Aquitaine
The Vignerons Coopérateurs d’Aquitaine is the professional body representing the cooperative wineries of the Dordogne, Gironde, Landes, Lot-et-Garonne and Pyrénées-Atlantique.
It has over 5,000 winegrowing members who produce almost 2,000,000 hectolitres of mainly appellation wines, representing 25% of regional production. The cooperative system thus forms the backbone of the vine and wine sector.
With no fewer than 1,500 employees, it has a considerable impact boosting the economy and local development.
The history of wine cooperatives locally, nationally and internationally has always been based on the protection of family-run winegrowing and the defence of quality labels.
The cooperative winery not only fosters collaboration between different generations, it is also a type of business that belongs to the growers themselves and whose governance is based on the principle of “one person, one vote”, providing a sustainable response to the issues of winegrowing today and in the future.
By supporting the ambitious La Cité du Vin project in Bordeaux, as is only natural, the wine cooperatives of the Aquitaine region are keen to play their part in promoting and passing on this cultural heritage that is part of the history of humanity.
